Welcome to my blog! Yesterday, my kids checked some books out of the library, including Dr. Seuss’ I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! (Beginner Books). I’d never read it before, and was struck by the quote in the image above: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” THAT basically sums up my whole perspective on reading. I used to think I read for fun, but then I realized that I read to LEARN. Reading is only fun and engaging for me if I’m learning something. Luckily, though, I believe you can learn from just about anything that is written, hence “the edifying word.” I’m hoping to use this site to share some of the lessons I learn from what I read, and hopefully you will find those lessons interesting, or enlightening, or even just entertaining! I’ll be back soon with some thoughts on what I’m reading…
My school library had a poster with this quote and drawing. You need to become more familiar with the good doctor. He’s very wise… Another gem, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!”. You are pretty awesome so I look fwd to hearing more from you.
